Château Rieumar 2014 - Languedoc La Clape - Silver Medal Château Rieumar 2014 - Languedoc La Clape - Silver Medal

Silver Medal Paris

The mouth is lively and very fine with round tannins (Syrah, Grenache, Carignan & Cinsault).

Food pairing:  Grilled meat, T-bone steak, spare ribs, duck, cheese...

Serving temperature: 18°C

Tasting notes:

This wine has a deep ruby color with a powerful nose of spices, blackberries and a touch of roasted coffee.

The mouthfeel is lively and very elegant.

The tannins are round and melt very nicely within discreet hues of black olives and cedar.

The finish is very promising, on raspberries aromas.

Great with grilled meat, T-bone steak, spare ribs, duck or cheese.

Domain:

Château Rieumar, other name of Château Capitoul, nestled in the heart of the Clape hills, between Narbonne and Gruissan.

Calmly posed in a setting of maritime pines, the chateau forms a magnificent picture amongst the vines and the salt lakes, with the Pyrenean mountain range as a backdrop.

75% of the vines were replaced and hard limestone soils cleared for planting.

Parcel selection was established and an ultramodern cellar constructed.

As a result this estate rapidly became one of the flagships of the Appellation.

For the last 10 years it has also been engaged in wine tourism, with a superb boutique, reception rooms and rooms for 10 people.

Winemaking:

Château Rieumar has an ultramodern cellar constructed in an original architectural style, like a boat.

The grape varieties used are essentially Syrah, with Grenache, Carignan and some Cinsault.

The grapes are hand picked and sorted out before and after destemming.

Vinification between 24 and 26° during 14 to 35 days on the marc, with manual punching of the cap.

Final aging in concrete tanks during 12 months.

Terroir:

Truly a mosaic of parcels and micro-climates.

The Clape vineyards have been formed by generations of wine growers for over 2000 years.

The vines of Château Rieumar thrive on limestone clay and gravelly soils, which allows each varietal to express its maximum potential.
