Deep ruby red with violet highlights.

Notes of red fruits (strawberry, raspberry, cherry) that open up to toasted, vanilla notes with a slight touch of spice.

The freshness of the Pinot Noir is expressed with finesse. Substance, roundness and full flavor characterize this generous wine with well-integrated tannins. 

Bright red berry fruit is clean and fresh, with supple tannins, a long and full finish, with a discreet hint of oak.

“Combe St. Jean” is a tribute to those cold and narrow valleys (« Combes ») which hollow the gentle limestone slopes of the best terroirs of Burgundy. 

The vineyards surrounding these Combes often show the best conditions for growing Pinot Noir or Chardonnay, the two main grape varieties of Burgundy.

Our wines are a selection of individual barrels carefully picked in the cellars of some of the best producers of the region, by our experienced Burgundian winemaker, Laurent Delaunay.

 

Winemaker:

 

Laurent Delaunay represents the 5th generation of a well known vine-growers and family of negociants in Burgundy. 

His family own more than 50 hectares of vineyards all over the region.

Laurent lives in his family’s 19th century château in the heart of the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin.

 

Region: 

 

Burgundy, at the South-East of Paris and centered around the culinary icon of Dijon, is one of France’s most famous and visited wine regions. 

This is due to dazzling array of history, architecture and a reputation for producing the world’s finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

 

The vineyards: 

 

50 % from the Côte de Nuits and 50% from the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits.

 

Vinification

 

Burgundy traditional winemaking with fermentation in vats, and then a 9 month

aging in small French oak barrels for 50% of the cuvée.

 

Cellaring potential : 3-5 years.
