Château du Castel St-Vincent 2014 - Pomerol Château du Castel St-Vincent 2014 - Pomerol

Very well structured with a long and delicate finish.

Fruity, floral and powerful as all great Pomerol.

Food pairing:  Roasted duck, grilled beef or in stew, pheasant, wild boar, lamb, strong cheese...

Serving temperature: 17-18°C

Tasting notes:

Well balanced and elegant with fruity notes, vanilla and chocolate.

Supple attack, well structured, with a long and delicate finale.

Round with rich and silky tannins.

History:

The history of Château Moulinet is narrowly linked to the history of Pomerol, because it is one of the oldest estates in the area and also one of the largest.

Located on the route used by pilgrims on their way to Saint James of Compostela, the estate was a stopping place for Saint John of Jerusalem knights.

Amongst several medieval relics, a stone bearing the mark of the Cross of Malta can be seen in the park of the chateau.

The estate belonged to several important Libourne families before being bought from the heirs of Mr. de Seguin by Armand Moueix in 1971.

Vineyard:

Area: 18 hectares of vines

Soil: A gravelly clay subsoil and varied top soils made up of pebbles, gravel and ancient sand, which combine to form a very rich terroir.

Grape variety:

Merlot 85%

Cabernet Franc 15%

Vinification:

The bunches and grapes are minutely screened on a sorting table and selected either to make Château Moulinet or our second wine.

This equipment is vital for meticulous wine making.

With14 temperature-controlled vats, minutely selected, plot-specific wines can be made, thus enhancing the blends that will be crafted at the end of the process.

In this way, Château Moulinet preserves tradition and innovation.
