Fruity, a bit spicy, supple and fresh with a structured mouth as a great Saumur Champigny.

 

Food pairing:  Aperitif, grilled meat, cold cuts, white meat, mild cheese...

 

Serving temperature: 16-18°C 

 

Tasting notes:

 

The color is bright and frank garnet. 

Fruity and spiced, with a few notes of game.

Structured palate but soft, fresh, tangy.

 

Domain:

 

At the heart of the Loire Valley, in the hills of the village of Souzay Champigny, the field overlooks Bessière, the vineyard AOC Saumur Champigny.

Mainly planted with Cabernet-Franc, the fifteen hectares of field are conducted with rigor in Sustainable Agriculture. 

All the plots are trellised, grassed and cantaloupe is worked. 

The production of each parcel is controlled and green harvesting can be made if needed.

 

Terroir:

 

The fifteen hectares are over 4 villages:

Saumur, Dampierre sur Loire Souzay, Champigny and Parnay.

The main soil is clay and limestone with some freestone under some plots.

Climate is Northern.

 

Vinification:

 

After several tests of maturity, each plot is harvested and vinified separately. 

Before the vatting, grapes are sorted one last more time in the basement.

Maceration tanks are temperature controlled stainless steel and can last from 15-30 days with master

pumping over.

Breeding continues in the traditional way, in stainless steel vats in our freestone cellars.

Once bottled, our wines are stored in our cellar.
