Savigny Les Beaune 1er Cru 2016 "Aux Guettes" - Domaine Machard de Gramont Savigny Les Beaune 1er Cru 2016 "Aux Guettes" - Domaine Machard de Gramont

Round, velvety, and beautifully balanced. It has complexity and depth in a soft but very intense sort of spicy and musky notes (100% Pinot Noir).

Food pairing:  Beef, roasted or fried duck, game, filet mignon, hard and ripe cheese...

Serving temperature: 14-16°C

Tasting notes:

Delicate shiny red colour.

Flowers on the nose.

On the palate, this wine is well structured, tannic and round.

Aromas are very refined with ripe black cherry, spices, earthy and lightly smoked notes with just the right touch of tannins.

Domain:

The Machard de Gramont estate, located in Prissey, a hamlet neighbouring Nuits-Saint-Georges, is a family vineyard managed by Arnaud Machard de Gramont and his two sons Alban and Alexis.

The cellar dates from the 11th century and has a superb vaulted ceiling, which gives it a cathedral-like quality.

The estate consists of 20 hectares of vineyards, which extend over almost 50 kilometres, from Chenôve, south of Dijon, to Puligny-Montrachet, south of Beaune.

The estate produces over a dozen appellations, the main ones being Aloxe-Corton, Chorey les Beaune, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Pommard, Savigny-les-Beaune and Puligny-Montrachet.

Vinification:

Hand-picked harvest, rigorous selection.

4 to 6 days cold maceration, then long vinification in open wooden vats.

Punching and pumping 2 to 3 times a day to extract colour.
